The Path House

500–900 sf

A compact cedar and stucco accessory dwelling at the end of a gravel path, Wasatch foothills beyond

Some lots want the second dwelling farther from the first: a path, a turn in the garden, a building that does not share a wall or a roof. The path house is that type — new construction, fully detached, arrived at on foot.

The architectural problem is privacy without exile. We place the building for light and setbacks, keep the path as a real outdoor room, and give the unit an entry that does not feel like a service door.

This is new work on existing ground. We design the second building so the first one can stay as it is.
