Practice
A small office for a second house.
Kohottaa is a new architecture practice, licensed in Utah. We are starting with new standalone accessory dwellings in Davis and Weber counties.

The name is Finnish. Kohottaa means to raise, to lift, to elevate, to hold something up. It is how a toast is made, and how a roof is lifted off a wall. We took it because the work is not novelty. It is making a lot do more without pretending the first house disappeared.
A new practice means the drawings are ours. You will not be handed between a business-development desk and a junior intern. Feasibility, schematic, and the permit set are the same conversation.
We are currently accepting first commissions. If you have a lot in Davis or Weber County, or another project in mind, write to us.
Architect
Nicholas Weber, AIA
Owner and licensed architect. Drawings that can be permitted, stamped, and built.
Scale
Small on purpose
We do not run a production line of identical backyard units. Each lot has a different setback, a different house, a different family. The drawings follow.

Materials
Plaster, cedar, metal, bronze.
We prefer surfaces that weather in this climate: limewash and stucco, vertical-grain cedar, standing-seam roofs, hardware that can be touched for twenty years. The palette is quiet so the landscape — foothills, cottonwoods, winter light — can be loud.
